This Saturday’s home derby at Spelthorne Sports Club drew a crowd of 135, making it the most watched fixture in the division so far this season. A shared home ground, local interest and two closely matched sides set the tone for a competitive afternoon.
Staines & Lammas took the lead early on, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 13th minute through Eduard-Valentin Voinea. Spelthorne responded with a composed and controlled performance, growing into the game as the first half progressed.
The equaliser arrived shortly after the break. Seanpierre Ortiz found the net in the 49th minute, bringing Spelthorne level and lifting our home crowd.
After a competitive second half, the points were ultimately shared in a fixture that reflected the closeness between the two teams on the day.
The result moves Spelthorne onto 21 points, with the league table remaining tight as January draws to a close.
