Onto Hartley on Tuesday where we expected to push the unbeaten and Champions elect Hartley; it was a story of what might have been really.
An early goal from Hartley put them one up which was a disappointing start given the spirit from the boys to do well, we then steadied the ship and went in at half time still well in the match. An excellent start to the 2nd half saw us dominating without duly troubling the home keeper but forcing a number of corners, we then made a positive change with Lynchy and Jake entering the fray, our momentum continued until Jake was sent off which naturally changed the course of the match against a strong, direct and well organised side with some notable players in their ranks who quickly added two further goals.
Our boys battled on tirelessly and Staples gave us a glimmer of hope with a fine header, Hartley restored their cushion with a fourth near the end. I could sit here all night and moan about the officials, however in the cold light of day the sending off costs us, we need to move on quickly…….and we look forward to welcoming Hartley back to our place later in the season……..
